Description:

Legend has it that hidden in the remote reaches of the Himalayan mountains lies a secret that would have saved Ponce de Leon from years of fruitless searching. There, generations of Tibetan monks have passed down a series of exercises with mystical, age-reversing properties. Known as the Tibetan Rites of Rejuvenation or the Five Rites, these once-secret exercises are now available to Westerners in Ancient Secret of the Fountain Of Youth. Peter Kelder's book begins with an account of his own introduction to the rites by way of Colonel Bradford, a mysterious retired British army officer who learned of the rites while journeying high up in the Himalayas. Fountain of Youth then offers practical instructions for each of the five rites, which resemble yoga postures. Taking just minutes a day to perform, the benefits for practitioners have included increased energy, weight loss, better memory, new hair growth, pain relief, better digestion, and just feeling younger.

5Best Kept "Ancient Secret of the Fountain of Youth".Aug 19, 2010
Although I am not a fan of Bruce Forsythe, I was extremely impressed to see how fit and energetic he is for his age. It was also amazing to see how he doesn't need to use glasses to read despite being in his eighties. My husband has just turned 60 and we felt it couldn't do him any harm to follow the exercises in the book, and although initially he experienced a little difficulty with one or more of the exercises, he is finding them easier to manage after only a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I have a condition similar to vertigo so the exercises do not suit me but we have high hopes that they will benefit my husband, and they only take a couple of minutes a day. I would certainly recommend giving it a try, and will always be thankful I watched the programme about Bruce Forsythe where he demonstrated the exercises and explained how he has been doing them for 30years!!

5Do Yourself the FavorAug 15, 2010
An excellent, simple, profound read. The change in energy and in "carriage" come quickly. Something is also happening structurally at an obvious pace. Unsolicited and unfished for compliments have made me chuckle internally and marvel at this tiny but powerful teaching. Have shared it with my daughters and friends.

3The "Rites: work even though inaccurateMay 31, 2010
This highly popular book has received all the accolades but isn't the original and contains some glaring inaccuracies. While the general idea is intact and judging from the results people are claiming, apparently works just the same. In the original, there are no breathing recommendations, which in this book are somewhat detrimental, the full on forward bend from the waist in rite # 3 is omitted, likely because it was not illustrated but described in the original. The chakra explanation in the beginning of the book is the standard yoga explanation and is not at all the same one as the vortices explained in Kelder's original. Moreover the "rites" are not yoga and have never claimed to be according to the original. for the complete text of the 1946 republication of Kelder's original work, I highly recommend "The Eye of Revelation" for all enthusiasts of this amazing work.

Here's a helpful hint for those who are having trouble with the spinning rite . The trick to not getting dizzy is to focus inward rather than watching the horizon .
I'm 66 . When I started doing the rites a month ago I was 20 pounds overweight and had lower back problems , particularly after a round of golf . In addition I was dealing with a bursitis issue in my hip that caused me to need a cane .
It's now a month later , I've lost ten pounds without really trying , the bursitis has completely cleared up , I have zero back pain and my attitude is always terrific . And after being absent for several years my morning woodie is back ! It might be time to throw the blue pills away .
This is like a dream come true .I had dismissed a lot of the claims before but not anymore .
PS I also went out and got a toning CD which I highly recommend .
