Thumbs up for Downward Dog and WarriorsOct 27, 2007
By Felicity Kelly Lovely illustrations and pictures in this book. This is not a "manual" or a "how to do yoga' book, though there are instructions and modifications for each pose covered. It covers much more--sustaining the pose as well as embodying the pose, points for practice and charming stories of Hindu mythology and relevance of spirituality in the practice. Brings meaning to the personal practice for those who may have an interest in more than just the postures.

Want to learn the origins of the yoga poses you do. "Downward Dogs and Warriors..."provides interesting insight not only into the origin of the poses but also into the culture and language of the origins. Additionally the description of alignment is wonderful and more complete than some instructors' suggestions. Results will be healthful not harmful. Enjoyable, well written and illustrated, and above all HELPFUL. JK

My best friend just sent me a copy of this. Shes a yoga teacher, Im a Student Indian Philosopher, and arts lover. I do asana too. This book goes hand in hand with both. I am not going to go on and on, it is a very unique and original book, never would have thought to get it. Gorgeous paintings, and lovely explainations of how the pose originated, and variations and tips. Just LOVELY! Thanks Padma! I recommend to anyone who is a yoga asana student or teacher, Indian art or philosophy lover. 10 stars! NAMASTE! 3~

Beautiful bookMay 18, 2008
By S. Mathews This a book for people with feelings who want to do more then simply stretch; the Introduction alone is incredibly touching. The book describes the mythologies behind the asanas as well as describing the poses in detail with beautiful color page inserts illustrating both the asana and the mythology.

This is such a beautiful book.Nov 06, 2008
By Edina Leiher It is beautifully written, with colorful illustrations. It really makes you want to think deeper about what you do on your yoga mat. I wish there would be another volume with more poses in it. I would recommend this book for everyone who is interested in yoga.
