Great for the new and the experienced!Sep 02, 2010 This book takes you outside of the classroom (or living room) to help you understand yoga and its many benefits. It compares tradition with science and experience, and encourages the reader to take a fresh look at his or her own experience. Rather than pushing a specific set of beliefs and requirements, each individual is given tools to identify his or her own.
The Many Facets of YogaSep 02, 2009 Ganga White's book, Yoga Beyond Belief,is one of the best books on the market for the yoga field. It is written in an easy to understand manner, yet provides such a wealth of information to learn. It helps ignite you to understand what your mind and body are telling you and how to respond. He integrates facts about the anatomical, psychological, spiritual, and physical benefits of yoga in this book. It is a book that you will want to read again because you catch something new each time. I would highly suggest that new, as well as established yoga practitioners read this book to get an even better understanding of how and what the practice of yoga and meditation can do for them. Definitely one of those books that makes you really think and expand your current mindset for the better. Some may think they don't have time to read books; however, make the time to read this one...for it will give you time if you glean what is being said.

Yoga beyond belief reviewJul 04, 2009 This book was in good condition but took almost two weeks to get to me. I was very unhappy with the timing.
Refreshingly insightfulOct 24, 2008 I found the overall discussion of the place of yoga in the modern world very relevant and thorough. Most books on yoga philosophy quote Patanjali and although in a relevant fashion, it is the questioning that one comes across not frequently enough. I think old philosophies need to be evaluated and modified to suit the needs of the times. As the Dalai Lama says if some philosophy does not make sense in terms of modern wisdom, scientific or otherwise, then we need to reevaluate it accordingly. Ganga White does bring up a similar idea and I think that is what I found to be the strong point of this book. Even in the discussion of the simple sitting posture White describes its physiological benefit and that is an appealing feature of this book to me. Leave aside the benefits of twists or inversions, the simple idea of the benefit of sitting down on the floor, off the chair makes lot of sense to me. Thanks Mr. White for the thoughts and ideas.
it does what it says in the titleSep 07, 2008 I went to Ganga Whites teacher training at the White Lotus Foundation and this book really opened up my practice and prepared me for a life changing experience doing his teacher training. I strongly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take their practice further, start a personal practice, or just learn more about yoga.
